I like to overthink things. One day I was daydreaming about how people always tell you to ‘be yourself’ but that maybe it’s not that simple if you don’t know who ‘yourself’ is. It’s certainly taken me a while to figure it out, and maybe I still haven’t, but I got to thinking about all the versions I’ve tried out over the years. And then I wondered what they’d think of each other. It’s a bit of a mind loop, but to me the song is like one of those endlessly reflecting mirrors or pictures of pictures.
